KETOGENIC DIET DAY 11

20th March

It has been a tough week but it wasn’t because I have been feeling hungry…it is more to do with trying to keep myself from getting bored with the same food I have been eating. Also, I have had some pretty strong cravings for sweets but this usually occurs in the evening straight after I have eaten my dinner.

Mentally I am feeling a little better and my depression is just back to its usual self; no major depressive episodes. Sometimes I come close to the beginnings of a full episode when I feel the need for some comfort food. My thoughts become erratic and I begin to suddenly feel alone and very low. It’s hard to explain if you have never suffered from depression.

Anyway, I haven’t been checking my ketone level every day with the KetoSticks and so far I am still real deep in ketosis. The sticks show a deep purple which is the highest level for ketones in the blood. That’s all good but I am trying to lower the amount a little by eating a few more carbs. I am struggling because I just do not feel hungry most of the time…my appetite has just disappeared because of the bland food I have been eating.

KETOGENIC DIET DAY 16

25th March

I really had nothing new to report throughout the week…it was just the usual routine. I have started to get bored with the type of food I am eating and so I am always on the lookout for new low carb recipes.

Some good news is that I have been sleeping like a baby which is very unusual for me. I tend to start getting tired at around 10.30 at night and usually hang on to around 11.15 before I feel the need to just get to bed.

I am not sure if it is the keto diet that is partly responsible for helping me sleep or the fact that it has been pretty cold the past few weeks and I tend to sleep better in the colder months. I guess I will find out when summer arrives.

KETOGENIC DIET DAY 18

27th March

So I did my weigh-in today and it came to 210lbs / 15 stone. So all in all I have lost around 15lbs, some of which is water weight and some which is actual fat. From now on I expect to lose around an average of 2 – 3lbs per week as my body begins to adapt.

As you can see by the measurements below I am still losing some size in all the important areas. In the past week I lost an inch from my chest and waist and half an inch from my hips. I am not too bothered about the hip area but I am pleased that I am still losing around the waist because that is the area that bothers me the most.
